Up Dharma Down recently opened for The xx live in Manila last July 30. It was my first time to hear their new album live since I wasn’t able to make it to their launch last year. It has been a treat to finally hear their new material from “Capacities” and I’ll do anything to support my dearest and most beautiful friend Armi Millare. Their producer Noel De Brackinghe’s posted a status on facebook which said, “If a band like the xx can tour the world…etc.. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever a band like Up Dharma Down shouldn’t be playing Glastonbury next year.”
Basing it on the band’s brilliance I completely agree.
Now they’re coming to Singapore this August 25, 2013 at St. James Powerstation, brought to you by Requiem Rising and Pinoytuner, the same group that brought Queso and Greyhoundz last April. I will be there that weekend for Metallica and lucky me to see that Up Dharma Down is there as well, performing the next day.
See below for more photos of Up Dharma Down’s opening performance at The xx in Manila… Or my so called attempt to embrace the redness of it all! Haha!
The xx was highly anticipated, not only for their music but for their lights. It was typical to showcase lights for the main act and use it sparingly for the front acts. If you pay attention this has always been the norm in most shows. I know red is sometimes a photographer’s nightmare and the easy way out typically for most is to turn it into black and white. Somehow this time around I wanted to just try it out. I had a feeling that because Up Dharma Down were my subjects, basically they all will look awesome even in grainy shots, because it’s them! Haha!
